Why we need your help
Since 1983, the Halton Trauma Centre has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide assessment and treatment services for children, adolescents and families affected by child abuse.
In 2003, an estimated 235,315 child abuse investigations were conducted across Canada. The rate of substantiated maltreatment across Canada has increased 125% between 1998 and 2003 (Canadian incidence study of reported child abuse and neglect, 2003).
The Centre, staffed by professional therapists, offers in-depth clinical skills and effective interventions to children in need. Over 400 children and their families received critical assessments and treatment last year. Unfortunately the Centre has not been able to maintain its budget growth to meet increased demand, our waiting list for services now stands at approximately 5 months!
