Message from the President
HTC has garnered recognition and tangible support over the years from the Halton Region, more broadly in the province and within the Health Care & Social Services community. These achievements reflect the dedication of clinicians, staff and in particular volunteers of all stripes.
Volunteers not only plan, work at and donate to the many events we run, but are the primary ambassadors for the HTC in the community. Through their efforts we have experienced unprecedented fundraising success in a difficult economy. Some high level revenue and service facts are:
- Direct fundraising has improved through our special events
- We have had our best Valentines' Day Gala ever
- Increased United Way funding support
- Expansion of our fee for service program; HTC providing its expertise throughout the Province
- We have received special funding from our Ministry partners in recognition of our quality treatment, strong governance practices and risk assessments
- Our hours dedicated to assessment and treatment increased 7.5% year over year as a direct result of some of this funding
This past year, the HTC clinical team has provided assessment and treatment for 161 individuals and family groups. The quality of this care is delivered by a clinical team that is second to none. Our clinicians continually add to the body of knowledge for the treatment of abuse and sexualized behavior through primary research that leverages the Centre's unique position in the community. We are fortunate to have these skilled and dedicated professionals working with the Centre.
The board has also been active this year in refining policies to continually align with an evolving governance framework for not for profit agencies, strategic planning and community engagement.
You may be surprised to know that the HTC runs with a administrative staff of 2.2. This is a significant accomplishment in that the Centre has a cost structure and employee base well below that which would be expected of a Centre our size. This is a reflection of our commitment that we maximize the funds available for assessment and treatment within our community.
Lastly, in recognizing key individuals within our team, I would like to specifically recognize Jolene Willacy who is retiring after 15 years with the Centre. Over the years Jolene has been an important face of the Centre to the clients, caregivers and professionals that visit the Centre. We wish Jolene happiness in her future activities.
We value our partnerships with community stakeholder groups and individuals and appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely
John Herald
