What to expect
Now that you have a better idea of our program and services, here is what you can expect when starting out at the Halton Trauma Centre:
-
A telephone referral is made to the centre. This referral can be made by anyone, however certain criteria must be met in order to be eligible for service.
-
An intake worker inputs your information into our database and you are placed on a waiting list if it is deemed that the service is appropriate for you.
-
Next, the Clinical Director prioritizes the waitlist, and clients get assigned to the appropriate assessor/therapist. For example: children under five years of age will likely be assigned to a clinician with extensive experience working with children in this age group.
-
The first family meeting takes place at the centre. At this meeting you will
-
Have an opportunity to meet our Clinical Director, as well as your assigned assessor/therapist.
-
Fill out some information forms (eg. family history)
-
Schedule your first assessment appointment.
-
- You will come back for your next appointment, and your assessment will begin.
